Transoms
tran·som win·dow
/ˈtran(t)səm ˌwindō/
noun
-
a window set above the transom of a door or larger window;
---
HOW
Transoms are created by measuring and designing custom size to fit the proposed area. Stained glass sheets are then cut by hand to match the design, and each piece is wrapped in lead came (thin strips of lead). The pieces are assembled like a puzzle and soldered together to form a rigid panel. Once complete, the glass is concreted into the came to prevent rattling.
GLASH Specifics
-
Prices vary from $200 - $500 depending on size and design complexity
-
Some complex design will require lead and copper foil.
-
While the glass can live outside, its best to place inside an interior clear glass transom
-
We do not install transoms, but provide soldered hooks to hang yourself. If you intend to have it professionally installed we will not include hook (please note in order).
